TAP INTO YOUR CALLING
I have always considered myself as a helper, my whole life I have felt the need to serve and support others. I chose to major in Philanthropic Studies because I believe philanthropy is the way we that can systematically change the world through helping others. Throughout my time at LFSOP, my ideas of philanthropy have evolved and grown into lifestyle, to be a philanthropist means to love mankind. I am a firm believer that philanthropy can look different for every philanthropist, no act is too small. Each of us have gifts and talents that we can offer to better each other’s lives, it’s our job to tap into our callings. I have chosen artifacts that represent my learning experiences over the past four years to allow you to look inside my philanthropic diary.

Living Water Farms
|
Living Water Farms is a hydroponic & aquaponic farm 30 miles west of Indianapolis. We have been blessed with the opportunity to create a space for our community to gather, grow fresh fruits and vegetables, cultivate an understanding of agriculture, and help eliminate the food desert in the county we live in. We have been lucky to have our produce featured on the menu at Tinker Street, specifically the squash blossoms. Despite our challenges many setbacks, we have been a part of some beautiful dining experiences in the midst of a crazy world. The farm is a representation of our attempt to build relationships, cultivate health, and communicate with others through our small business. My partner and I are both proud LFSOP alumni, this farm is a product of our education and needs to serve our community.

I have unfortunately noticed an immense amount of discomfort around drinking and the dating scene since arriving in college. Ever since I began working in a restaurant I started to think of ways that I can do my part to prevent any unwanted instances from our customers who happen to be on an uncomfortable date. I decided it was the right decision to make a graphic for our bathrooms that allows our guests to order an “angel shot”, in case of an unsafe situation. Depending on how the shot is ordered makes for different outcomes. I have always had a passion for sexual violence awareness, part of being an advocate comes with being aware of your surroundings and trying to leave a place better than you found.

POCA Presentation
|
I created this presentation during the initial boom of COVID for the Children's Museum Power of Children's Award. The symposium, unfortunately, could not take place in person. Instead of presenting in person, I was asked to create a virtual presentation for the students going over the basics of philanthropy. I took this opportunity during my time as the social media assistant for student services after volunteering for the symposium a year prior. This experience pushed me to think critically about how I view philanthropy and how I can put that knowledge into layman’s terms to explain to children.

During my time working for the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, I was asked to start an Instagram page for the school. It was my job to create content, answer questions, attend events, use my skills in graphic design, collaborate with my peers, and evaluate the content I produced. For the sake of the success of the Instagram account, I had to think deeply about the wide variety of content I could choose from that pertained to the school and my education. Every day I used my problem-solving skills as each day presented a new challenge for creating content.
